Are you tired of worrying your dog will hurt someone?

Dealing with aggression in a pet can be a roller coaster of emotion. Owners of aggressive dogs struggle with guilt, fear, and frustration.

Don't get roped into working with someone who doesn't specialize in aggression. We train with hundreds of aggressive dogs in Denver each year, including human-to-dog aggression cases, dog-to-dog aggression cases, child-bite cases, and everything in between.

How we can help.

Our programs teach owners of aggressive & reactive dogs how to safely and effectively manage their dogs in stressful situations, as well as how to reduce the possibility of a dog bite.

Make no mistake, aggression is a serious issue that requires extreme dedication and commitment on a dog owner's part. But we're here to tell you: There is help and hope for canine aggression.

There are many types of dog aggression.

  • Fear Aggression

  • Territorial Aggression

  • Predatory Aggression

  • Re-directed Aggression

  • On-leash Aggression

We can help with them all.

Denver Aggressive Dog Training
  • They are very experienced, and are so open minded and non-judgmental. Even if you don’t have specific problems you want to target, they can help you get a firm grasp on basic obedience as well. Very flexible too! My schedule is pretty crazy due to work, and these guys help me work around it with ease. A truly amazing group of people, 10/10 recommend!”

    — Kelly Malone, Edgewater CO

  • “After 6 weeks away at boot camp with another trainer (won’t mention any names) he was far worse and way more aggressive. I couldn’t even walk him down the street, especially if there was another dog within eyesight. Working with Front Range K9 Academy has been a blessing for both of us, their process is “hands down” the best I’ve ever experienced. I can’t recommend them enough, and I have, to everybody I meet. The only thing I regret is not finding them sooner.”

    — Chip Davis, Denver CO

  • “I’ve never been so happy with a purchase, it has proven to be worth every single penny. He just graduated from the core obedience and problem solving, he’s truly a different dog - in the best way. Walks and outings are more enjoyable now - for us & for him…We cannot wait to start the next level of obedience next month.”

    — Connor Rumsey, Denver CO

  • “…We completed the Problem Solving program with Front Range K9 and learned so much! We have a whole new way to communicate with our dog and have learned a lot about building her confidence and ways to work on her reactivity. The trainers are patient, kind and extremely knowledgeable about working with dogs. This is the best money we could have spent for our dog!”

    — Mackenzie Saenz, Lakewood CO

  • “We have done 4 obedience classes and smell classes here. This place is so awesome for both the dogs and the handlers! Every instructor is top notch. All programs are very organized. Not sure who looks forward to school more, me or Gonzo! If you are thinking about coming here just do it!”

    — Gordon Tapley, Denver CO

  • “I have taken several classes at Front Range K9 Academy with Jennifer. My first Great Dane was abused and very scared. Doing obedience 1 with her made her more confident and helped build our bond. The following year we did obedience 2 to keep her challenged and that only increased her confidence. We also did a fun tricks class during the winter months to keep this energetic girl busy and had a blast! I love the methods used and the human-focused training.

    — Ali Young, Denver, CO

  • "With Jennifer's guidance, and my persistence, I learned how to transition from the chewy toy to the leader, help Mollie learn how to behave on a walk and in a crowd."

    - Annette Tekler, Pine CO

  • "Wow! We are so pleased with our experience at Front Range K9 Academy! …Our Golden Retriever is happier and much more obedient and attentive. Jordan is a great trainer and helped us so much! We would highly recommend for any level of need or training."

    Lauren Emerson, Wheat Ridge CO

  • "What great trainers/instructors! They really do take their time and give each dog the individual attention and understanding specific to their needs. Jen, the owner, is an expert in her craft and has great insights on dogs & dog training…Totally trust that when you are done with your training course, you will have the tools needed to help your dog be a more calm and confident companion."

    — Trista DeSousa, Lakewood CO

What can an aggression control program do for you?

  • Aggression Control Programs decrease your dog's aggression through:

Management (teaching you how to react to your dog's aggression, and control the environment to reduce the triggers that set off the aggression)

Redirection (teaching, practicing, and proofing new behaviors to a high level of reliability. This allows you to redirect your dog with a new, alternate behavior - instead of allowing the natural tendency towards aggression)

These dog training programs are tailored to each individual case. While there is no magic cure for aggression, gaining your dog's trust and reliable responsiveness through training changes your life with an aggressive dog from stressful, unpredictable, and full of danger and liability into a manageable, predictable, workable relationship.

  • The truth is, no trainer can 'make' your dog like things he or she is afraid of, or aggressive towards. Just like we can't 'make' you like spiders, snakes, sharks, or anything else that you're afraid of.

There is no 'magic cure' for aggression...

...and any trainer who tells you something different probably has a few bridges for sale, as well.

In a perfect world, all dogs would get along with all kids, babies, adult humans, cats, and other dogs.

But in reality, most aggression cases have very complex causes - including genetics, past experiences, breed dispositions, individual temperaments (personality) and more.

That doesn't mean you have to give up on your dog.

But you do have to understand that it is unlikely that ownership of your aggressive dog will ever be 'easy.'

Owning an aggressive dog requires patience, dedication, and an extremely strong commitment to your own responsibility to keep yourself, the public, and your dog safe and in control - at all times.

When you work on an Aggression Control Program with us, you're learning how to manage, control, and redirect your dog. We can show you how to make this tough job more straightforward.

  • Many of the exercises you'll do in an Aggression Control Program are the same that we do with every dog we train - so why do you have to pay more?

The higher fees are for your trainer's protection. In Colorado, anyone working with animals professionally (groomers, trainers, veterinarians) cannot seek legal action for being bitten by the animals they work with.

Likewise, should your dog injure one of our demo-dogs, we have no legal recourse.

Because of these risks, we have higher fees for Aggression Control services, in case we require medical attention for a bite from your dog.

Additionally, Aggression Control programs often require more effort and commitment from you, the owner, as well as additional equipment, and more time from your trainer.
